ShopperTrak Reports Year-Over-Year Retail Sales Rise 0.5 Percent for Week Ending May 31

Week-Over-Week Sales Improve 0.3 Percent

CHICAGO – June 3, 2008 - ShopperTrak RCT Corporation's National Retail Sales Estimate™ (NRSE) today reported that retail sales for the week ending May 31 increased a slight 0.5 percent as compared to the same period last year as sales returned to more seasonal levels following Memorial Day weekend.

On a week-over-week comparison, sales also posted a modest gain as Monday’s Memorial Day spending helped boost the weekly figure. Sales for the week ending May 31 as compared to the previous week ending May 24 rose 0.3 percent.

"The relatively flat performance seen last week reflects the more seasonal level of spending retailers have come to expect following Memorial Day weekend," said Bill Martin, co-founder of ShopperTrak. "While Father’s Day should provide a nice boost early in June, retail sales will most likely level off throughout the rest of the month until July 4th approaches."

Additionally, ShopperTrak’s NRSE reported year-over-year sales have increased 15 out of a possible 21 weeks so far in 2008.
