Traffic as an Asset

Measuring "Yield on Traffic"

Store Traffic-- the shoppers and buyers that arrive in your stores every day-- is a retailer’s most important asset

In fact, virtually every dollar invested, from store location and store operations to marketing and merchandising, is devoted to creating the traffic asset. Thus traffic is the only measurement of the opportunity created for each store by these investments.

In the example below, we can see that, on Thursday, the Main Street store is generating $9.14 for every shopper that enters the store.

If Main Street was able to improve their yield on traffic to $9.14 for every day of the week, they would realize an additional $1,079 in sales.  Perhaps the best place to begin is Sunday, where Sales Per Shopper is only $7.95.
