Retail Summit 2016 wraps up at the end of the day, and we’ve had a fantastic time.
We’ve heard from retail thought leaders, networked with peers and industry experts, and enjoyed a night of exquisite entertainment at the Art Institute of Chicago. For more details on the goings-on, check out our Retail Summit recap below.
Early birds checked in at the Marriott, Magnificent Mile in Chicago throughout Wednesday evening.
Attendees mingled on the fourth floor of the hotel for a cocktail hour and buffet dinner.
After coffee and breakfast, the group headed into a general session and were greeted by Nancy Chisholm, President Tyco Retail Solutions.
After Nancy’s speech, Bob Phibbs, The Retail Doctor, issued the keynote speech that stressed the centrality of the customer experience, a theme that would resonate throughout the conference.
The doctor also prescribed chocolate cake and paper airplanes…
After a quick coffee break, the conference picked up with a panel discussion on the current state of retail with several industry thought leaders: including, Dean DeBiase: Chairman, Reboot Partners & AKTA Professor, Kellogg School of Management; Erin Harris: Editor-in-Chief, Innovative Retail Technologies; and Lokesh Ohri: Senior Manager, Deloitte Consulting.
Neely Tamminga, Managing Director & Senior Research Analyst at Piper Jaffray, engaged the crowd with a data-packed presentation that busted the frequently cited “fact” that 90% of purchase are made in the store.
When lunch came to a close, attendees headed over to a product showcase and learned from product demos from ShopperTrak, Tyco, and WorkPlace that covered ShopperTrak’s Analytics Suite, RFID tags, and scheduling systems.
The afternoon culminated in six interactive concurrent sessions. These “break out” sessions allowed each guest choose to attend sessions that related the most to their interests. A few of the topics that were spoken about include: branding for Millennials, best practices for field adoption, and top tips for holiday planning.
In the coming days, we’ll be sure to share key insights from the conference, as well as the impactful illustrations from the Ink Factory. To get more updates on the most recent Retail Summit 2016 happenings, follow ShopperTrak on Twitter #STSummit16.
